The Commission has big ambitions for this<br />
project which is being jointly implemented<br />
by the Department of <strong>International</strong> Cooperation<br />
and Development and the Olympic Museum<br />
and which has the potential to p<strong>la</strong>ce the IOC<br />
as a lea<strong>de</strong>r in its own right on Olympic<br />
education and increase the number of people<br />
receiving it. China already has 400 million<br />
young people un<strong>de</strong>rgoing Olympic education<br />
and India intends to reach 10 million in<br />
the first phase of its own Olympic education<br />
programme.<br />
OLYMPIC VALUES EDUCATION PROGRAMME 51<br />
NOCs and youth education institutions in<br />
their countries are invited to participate in<br />
this exciting programme which will directly<br />
link into the Youth Olympic Games and has<br />
the potential to touch more young people<br />
than any other in the history of the IOC. The<br />
programme is meant to be self-perpetuating<br />
and is flexible enough for each NOC to<br />
adjust it according to the situation in its<br />
own territory.
