Olympic Games Organising
Committees (OCOGs)
In accordance with the Olympic Charter,
OCOGs organize a programme of cultural
events that serve to promote harmonious
relations, mutual understanding and friendship
among those attending the Olympic Games.
The cultural programmes become veritable
cultural Olympiads with events that span the
different arts over the four years leading to
the Games to culminate during the Games.

The OCOGs also develop extensive programmes
for the promotion of Olympic education that
are implemented during the four years leading
up to the Games.
The Commission is regularly updated on and
provides input to both the cultural Olympiad
and the educational programme of the
OCOGs which are constantly growing in
scope and importance.
