Le rendement potentiel maximum a étéestimé à 8 kg/ha, allant de 7 kg/ha dans le Shan Sud à 11 kg/ha dans le Shan Est. La producti<strong>on</strong>moyenne d’opium pour 2004 a ainsi été estimée à 370 t<strong>on</strong>nes, ce qui représente une baisse de 54 %par rapport à 2003 et de 72 % par rapport à 1998.Augmentati<strong>on</strong> des prix de l’opiumLe prix de vente moyen de l’opium à la producti<strong>on</strong> a été estimé en 2004 à 200 310 kyats(234 dollars É.-U.) le kilogramme, ce qui corresp<strong>on</strong>d à une augmentati<strong>on</strong> de 80 % en dollars É.-U.par rapport au prix à la producti<strong>on</strong>, à savoir 130 dollars É.-U., communiqué lors de l’enquête de2003.Faib<str<strong>on</strong>g>les</str<strong>on</strong>g>se persistante des cultivateurs producteurs d’opiumLe revenu moyen familial pour <str<strong>on</strong>g>les</str<strong>on</strong>g> producteurs d’opium était de 207 000 kyats par an (214 dollarsÉ.-U.) et de 266 680 kyats (276 dollars É.-U.) pour <str<strong>on</strong>g>les</str<strong>on</strong>g> n<strong>on</strong>-producteurs. La vente d’opiumreprésentait 62 % (soit 133 dollars É.-U.) du revenu annuel m<strong>on</strong>étaire des cultivateurs producteursd’opium.Baisse de la valeur de l’opium à la producti<strong>on</strong>Avec une producti<strong>on</strong> potentielle estimée à 370 t<strong>on</strong>nes, la valeur totale de l’opium à la producti<strong>on</strong> sem<strong>on</strong>tait à 87 milli<strong>on</strong>s de dollars des États-Unis en 2004, soit l’équivalent de 1 à 2 % du PIB.DépendanceDans l’État Shan, l’opiomane touchait 0,6 % de la populati<strong>on</strong> adulte en 2004 (soit l’équivalentd’envir<strong>on</strong> 17 000 pers<strong>on</strong>nes). Dans <str<strong>on</strong>g>les</str<strong>on</strong>g> villages où le pavot a été cultivé en 2004, le taux moyend’opiomanie était de 2,2 % et d<strong>on</strong>c largement supérieur à celui des villages ne produisant pasd’opium, où ce taux moyen atteignait seulement 0,2 %.Éradicati<strong>on</strong>En 2004, 2 820 hectares de pavot à opium <strong>on</strong>t été officiellement éradiqués.
