11.8 Chest and TrunkHarness adjustmentIf the child requires chest support as partof their postural support programme theseat will be fitted with rigid laterals or acombination of laterals, chest harnessand trunk harness. These may need to beadjusted on a daily basis to accommodatedifferences in clothing.Always check with your therapist as tothe optimum positioning and tensioningof the straps and support items for thechild.To change the width of the chest harness, liftthe front cover, adjust the Velcro straps andset to the desired width. When the correctwidth has been achieved replace the cover.Please refer to section 10 for specificguidance on adjusting the trunk harness.Always make sure the plastic bucklesare fully engaged when using thechest harness.Check the harness and laterals aresecure to ensure the child is safe andcannotslide forward in the seat as this mayrestrict their breathing.
