Altri fattori che possono causare riacutizzazioni di asma<br />
Le riniti, le sinusiti e le poliposi nasali sono talvolta presenti in<br />
pazienti asmatici ed il trattamento di ciascuna di queste<br />
patologie determina spesso il miglioramento dell’asma 195 .Per<br />
esempio, vi sono prove indirette che la sinusite batterica abbia<br />
un ruolo nella riacutizzazione dell’asma, perché il trattamento<br />
antibiotico di tale patologia riduce la gravità dell’asma. Tuttavia<br />
le sinusiti e l’asma possono semplicemente coesistere, senza<br />
alcun rapporto di causalità. A parte le sinusiti, vi è scarsa<br />
evidenza che le infezioni batteriche possano riacutizzare<br />
l’asma. Il reflusso gastroesofageo può scatenare riacutizzazioni<br />
asmatiche specialmente nei bambini e l’asma talvolta migliora<br />
quando il reflusso è trattato in modo appropriato 196, 197 . Molte<br />
donne riferiscono un peggioramento dell’asma durante le<br />
mestruazioni e si possono avere anche riacutizzazioni<br />
asmatiche premestruali 198 . L’asma può migliorare, peggiorare o<br />
rimanere invariato durante la gravidanza 199 .<br />
