palavra-chave do nosso negócio.
quanto a companhia mantém a sustentabilidade
Celulose: How did you become Vice-president
of Bracell?
Márcio: I arrived at Bracell in May of this
year as Vice-president of Communication
and Sustainability for Brasil and started to
answer for the areas of communication,
sustainability, and issues related to the ESG
agenda. I worked for more than 20 years in
national and multinational companies, such
as JBS, Unica - União da Indústria de Cana-
-de-Açúcar, Archer Daniels Midland, the Brazilian
Association of Vegetable Oil Industries
(Abiove), and the ZF Group. Now, at Bracell,
I have the challenge of developing a strategic
role for the growth of the Company’s business
and positioning Bracell as a reference in
sustainability in the Pulp and Paper Sector.
Celulose: How do you see the Company
now?
Márcio: Our primary investment, without
a doubt, is sustainability, a keyword in our
business. We invested in constructing the
Lençóis Paulista (SP) plant, which went into
operation in September 2021 and became
the world’s largest and most sustainable
dissolving pulp plant. This year, we launched
an unprecedented sustainable initiative, the
One-to-One Commitment, and I explain further
the details of this great action below. In
addition, my arrival at Bracell endorses how
much the Company considers sustainability
within its premise and business strategies.
Celulose: Has the Pandemic affected the
Pulp Sector?
Márcio: According to the Brazilian Tree Industry
(IBÁ), which monitors the Sector, even
with the outbreak of the Covid-19 Pandemic,
pulp production in Brazil increased by 6.6%
in 2020 compared to 2019, configuring the
Sector as one that quickly organized itself to
meet the demands of the new consumption
format of the various economic sectors, including
families. Brazil remained the second
