Piracicaba is in the ranking of the best
cities for entrepreneurship
Piracicaba reached 25th position in the index of
entrepreneurial cities for the period of 2022/2023. The
chart listed the cities that present the best conditions for
entrepreneurship and is produced by the Municipal School
of Public Administration, considering the 101 most
populous municipalities of Brazil. Among the state of São
Paulo municipalities, including the capital, Piracicaba is
in seventh place.
The ranking is organized according to the best conditions
for entrepreneurship based on seven favourable factors
for business: regulatory environment, infrastructure,
market, access to funds, innovation, human capital and
entrepreneurial culture. In relation to the 2022 study,
Piracicaba rose 21 positions - the year before it was in 46th
place. Within the indicators, the municipality stands out
especially in infrastructure and market, but progress was
also made in terms of regulatory environment, access to
funds and human capital.
Municipality supports direct expansion
for investments
Data from the Investment Research of the State of São
Paulo (PIESP), prepared by Seade Foundation - State Data
Analysis System, showed that, only in 2022, Piracicaba
featured investment announcements of the order of R$3.4
billions, spread across the sectors of Industry, Infrastructure
and Services.
With more than 80%, or R$2.9 billion, the leadership went
to the industrial sector, with announcements of R$1.36 billion
from the paper industry, R$1.1 billion from the automotive
area, R$135 million from information technology, in addition
to R$30 million in chemical specialties. The infrastructure
segment attracted R$463 million and the service sector R$69
million in investments made up mainly from research,
technology and health sectors.
