Wheat – sun ower is the main rotation system in Trakya region so it increases
frequency of weeds and broomrape in sun ower production and also residue of IMI
herbicide. Therefore, there is always a risk for both residue problem for following
crops and also for gaining resistance of both broomrape and also weeds against IMI
herbicides, although a research conducted at TARI mentioned that there was no
problem winter wheat, barley, maize but there was a risk for winter rapeseed and sugar
beet sown in following season [14]. Additionally, IMI herbicide group is very large
and containing many sub ingredients (Imazapyr, Imazapic, Imazamox, Imazethapyr
and Imazamethabenz-methyl) so it would be easy to lose resistance and stability
against to weeds and broomrape because broomrape has higher ability to improve
resistance against sun ower with developing new races. Similarly, weeds also have
ability like this.
