19th October 2012Dear Mrs Dimitrijević,It was with great sadness that we learnt of your husband’s death. Itcame so suddenly and must have been a terrible shock for you andother members of the family.Lavinia and I felt very privileged to have had the opportunity to getto know your husband a little. We vividly remember our evening overdinner at your flat, when the conversation was interrupted with gemsof wit and juicy anecdotes from Vojin. This Embassy has hugely valued the partnership we have enjoyed withVojin and the Belgrade Centre over the years. He has left behind aquite remarkable personal and institutional legacy, to which we willstrive to do justice.I will always remember my first meeting with your husband, at theCentre some two years ago. From that first meeting it was so clear tome that he was a beacon of enlightenment, humanity and scholarshipwhich it is rare to find anywhere. He will be surely missed by so many. Our thoughts are with you and your family as you come to terms withyour loss. Please accept our most sincere condolences.Yours ever, Michael Davenport78 | 79
