Letter of R’ Chaim of Berlin
Letter from R’ Chaim of Berlin, the son of the Netzi”v
(R’ Naftali Tzvi Yehudah Berlin). 1879. The letter is in his
handwriting with his signature was written during the time that
he served as Rabbi of Moscow (from 1865 to 1889). He passed
away in Jerusalem in 1953.

Letter from Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Yehudah Berlin, the Netzi”v. The
letter includes a few lines in his handwriting with his signature.
The Netzi”v was the Rosh Yeshivah of the Volozhin Yeshiva
until it was closed by the Russian government. He passed away
soon afterward in Warsaw in 1893. The Netzi”v authored many
important works, among them a commentary on the Chumash
called “Emek Davar” and a book of responsa called “Meishiv
Davar.”

הגלויה נשלחה לחוקר המפורסם ר'‏ שלמה בובר,‏ בענין המדרש
שוחר טוב.‏ כידוע ר'‏ רפאל נטע רבינוביץ בעל ‏"דקדוקי סופרים"‏
על הש"ס היה מומחה בעל שם לענין כתבי יד קדומים.‏ מדפיסי
הש"ס המפורסמים מווילנא,‏ משפחת ראם,‏ נעזרו רבות בשירותיו
כמבואר ב"אחרית דבר"‏ שנדפס בש"ס ווילנא.‏

Postcard from R’ Raphael Natta Rabinowitz to R’ Shlomo
Buber in 1886. In his handwriting and with his signature.
The postcard was sent to the famous researcher R’ Shlomo
B uber about the Medrash Shocher Tov. R’ Raphael Natta
Rabinowitz, author of “Dikdukei Sofrim” on the Talmud, was
a well-known expert in the area of ancient manuscripts. The
famous publishers of the Talmud in Vilna, the Rom family, were
greatly assisted by him, as is mentioned at length in the essay at
the end of the Vilna Talmud.
