to main deck. 18.29o tons deadweight on 29ft. 5 in. .<br />
summer draught. 15 knots speed on trial in laden con-jdition.<br />

Copenhagen. Felding has been adopted to a consider- i<br />
able extent in the construction of the hull. The<br />
vessel has a soft-nose stem and cruiser stem, and<br />
is without sheer over 45 per cent of her lenght.<br />
Cargo oil is carried in 10 centre and 10 side tanks.;<br />
There are two main pump rooms«, t<strong>og</strong>ether with a smal-!<br />
ler pump room forward. In the cargo-pump rooms there|<br />
are fItted four duplex pumps, each of 500 tons per<br />
hour capacity, and two 40-ton duplex bilge pumps,<br />
while in the pump room at the port side of the fore |<br />
hold, a bilge pump and fuel-oil transfer pump are ;<br />
installed. Puel oil is carried in deep tanks under j<br />
the fore hold, in deep tanks at the fore end of the ;<br />
engine room and in the double bottom, where there |<br />
are also tanks for Diesel oil, lubricating oil and !<br />
feed water. Peed-water is carried in the upper aft- \<br />
r>eak tank, and fresh water in the poop tanks, as j<br />
well as in two 25-ton fresh water reservoirs amidships.<br />
The general outfit includes five derricks,<br />
vis, two 5-ton, one 4-ton, one 3-ton and 1 one-ton, \<br />
steam driven anchror and warping whinches and Hastiej<br />
electro-hydraulic steering gear. Accomodation for j<br />
the owner", captain, deck officers, wireless operator,<br />
pilot, two boys and steward, t<strong>og</strong>ether with a ;<br />
hospital, dining saloon and bathrooms, is arranged |<br />
on the bridge and in houses above. Cabins for the [<br />
petty officers, seamen, engine-room personel and \<br />
boys are arranged in the poop - all in single berth;<br />
rooms, with the exeeption of four of the boys. A :<br />
house on the poop deck provides accomodation for the;<br />
engine-room officers and assistants and two cooks, \<br />
various messrooms, officers smoking room, recreation;<br />
rooms and galley. The chief engineers cabins are in !<br />
a house on the after boat deck. The Hi-Press injec- ;<br />
tion, complete air-conditioning and normal mechani- j<br />
cal suction system of ventilation is fitted. The i<br />
four lifeboats (two motor driven) are of aluminium, ;<br />
and all the boat winches are operated by means of<br />
compressed air. The navigating equipment includes<br />
wireless apparatus, direction-finder, radar apparatus,<br />
gyro compass and echo sounding gear. The pro-|<br />
pelling machinery, constructed by the shipbuilders, ;<br />
consists of a B. & W. single-acting, two stroke cyc-;<br />
le, eight cylinder, crosshead Diesel engine develo- !<br />
v±ng 7.380 B. H. P. at 115 r.p.m., the cylinder diameter<br />
is 740mm. and the stroke 1.600mm. The main en-"<br />
gine is arranged for using Diesel as well as heavy j<br />
oil. The auxiliaries include three B. & w. type . j<br />
425-MTH-40, single acting 5 four stroke cycle, trunk;<br />
piston Diesel engines, each direct-coupled to a dy- ;<br />
namo of HOkW. Steam for various services, at a wor-i<br />
king pressure of about 180 Ibs. per sq..in.? is sup- |<br />
plied oy two oil-fired water-tube bollers with in- i<br />
direct evaporation, and by a B. & W# exhaust-gas |<br />
