Goals:
The purpose of this course is to enhance students’ understanding on certain topics of economic
globalization and economic integration. An elementary understanding will have been
obtained in the courses „Trade Theory and Trade Policy“ (E320/E371) or „European Integration
“ (E321), taught in the previous summer term. The idea is to move from the introductory
or intermediate textbook-level up to a more advanced level approaching the frontier of academic
research. Each of the participants will attempt to do so for a specific topic to be assigned
in the seminar. Based on a brief list of journal articles, the student will write up a termpaper
(about 25 pages length), to be presented in the seminar.
Contents:
The topics assigned will cover various aspects of international trade theory and policy, as
well as issues of Development Economics, as taught in the above mentioned courses.
