Figure 6 shows that the changes over time as measured by subsequent birth cohorts
of women go in the expected direction. The younger the cohort, the less likely a
woman is to marry during pregnancy and shortly after birth. It is interesting, however,
that this trend is not linear and, e.g., the two most recent cohorts show hardly
any change. This pattern also remains virtually unchanged and highly significant in
the multivariate model.

Figure 7 shows the pattern with respect to the stated planning status of the pregnancy
that resulted in the first birth. Women were given the four categories as
shown in the figure. Those women who state in the interview that they did not
plan their pregnancy show a lower rate of marriage than those who have planned it,
or who did not state a clear opinion. Interestingly, there does not seem to be much
