This Update provides an overview over current cl<strong>in</strong>ical and experimental<br />
research <strong>in</strong> the corneal epithelium. New <strong>in</strong>sights <strong>in</strong>to the<br />
pathopysiology of dry eye, recent data on anti-angiogenic and<br />
anti-<strong>in</strong>flammatory strategies will be reported. In addition, the symposium<br />
will be focuss<strong>in</strong>g on translational approaches like gene therapy<br />
and the use of biocompatibles as artificial corneas.<br />
