This update will emphasize on benefits and problems of new therapeutic<br />
procedures <strong>in</strong> pediatric ophthalmology: Beta blockers <strong>in</strong> hemangioma,<br />
IOLs <strong>in</strong> pediatric cataract, tubes for complicated<br />
pediatric glaucoma, and anti-VEGF <strong>in</strong> pediatric ret<strong>in</strong>opathies. The rationale<br />
for novel treatment approaches based on pathophysiology<br />
and failures of more traditional treatment protocols will be discussed.<br />
Case series will illustrate the power of these <strong>in</strong>novations as well<br />
as the need for ref<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g actual protocols and to address potential<br />
risks.<br />
