In the field of degenerative retinal diseases the establishment of
curative (e.g. gene therapy) and symptomatic therapeutic strategies
(e.g. parameters, channelopsins) are at an early stage. Translation to
the patient has already begun or is imminent. It is thus necessary to
develop and optimize methods for clinical monitoring and to define
the respective endpoints. The current state of research will be presented
and discussed.
