The term Uveitis covers an "umbrella" of sight-threaten<strong>in</strong>g diseases<br />
that often represents a challenge both for diagnosis and treatment.<br />
The spectrum of entities is wide and several steps and procedures<br />
are often needed to reach a correct diagnosis. Dur<strong>in</strong>g the diagnostic<br />
and therapeutic process, several pitfalls can occur. In particular un<strong>der</strong>estimation<br />
of cl<strong>in</strong>ical signs, <strong>in</strong>correct differential diagnosis,<br />
wrong diagnostic and therapeutic strategies and unsuitable evaluation<br />
of the response to treatment are some of the possible errors<br />
that can happen. These mistakes can particularly occur <strong>in</strong> evaluat<strong>in</strong>g<br />
specific Uveitis entities such as Fuchs Uveitis, often misdiagnosed<br />
and wrongly treated with high quantities of steroids, albeit it is<br />
evident that they are not <strong>in</strong>dicated. The same problems may happen<br />
<strong>in</strong> posterior Uveitis, such as ocular toxoplasmosis and Treponema<br />
associated Uveitis, when the correct <strong>in</strong>fectious process is not<br />
addressed. The goal of the symposium will be to present the most<br />
recent approaches <strong>in</strong> diagnosis and therapy <strong>in</strong> Uveitis, focus<strong>in</strong>g subsequently<br />
on the correct diagnostic procedures and treatments.<br />
