Aluminium
p chem. Symbol Al; silberweißes Leichtmetall; Schmelzpunkt
660°C; Dichte 2,7 g/cm 3 .
Chrom
p chem. Symbol Cr; bläulich-weiß glänzendes Schwermetall;
Schmelzpunkt 1890°C, Dichte 7,2 g/cm 3 .
aufgetragen. Chrom ist das wichtigste Legierungsmetall
in nichtrostenden Chromstählen.
Kupfer
p chem. Symbol Cu (von lat. Cuprum); rötlich glänzendes
Schwermetall; Schmelzpunkt 1083°C; Dichte 8,9 g/cm 3 .
Bester Strom- und Wärmeleiter nach Silber. Kupfer hat
absolute UV-Beständigkeit, hohe Diffusionsdichte und
Korrosionsbeständigkeit, ist vielseitig verwendbar und
aluminium
p Chemical symbol Al; silver white light metal; melting point
660°C; density 2.7 g/cm 3 . Aluminium is relatively soft,
extremely ductile and deformable. It can be drawn into
fine wire and rolled into thin sheet and fine foils. It is much
more insensible to atmospheric moisture and atmospheric
oxygen than iron. This is due to the thin oxide film that
forms within a few seconds on freshly scored aluminium,
protecting the aluminium layers beneath against further
corrosion. Aluminium base alloys are among the most
important materials used in profiles, pipes and sheets. In
the foodstuffs industry, aluminium is a major packaging
material. It is also used for the production of cooking utensils,
milk churns and drinking cups.
lead
p Chemical symbol Pb (from Latin plumbum); bluish grey
heavy metal; melting point 327.5°C; density 11.3 g/cm 3 . Lead
is extremely ductile, can be easily bent and rolled to thin
foil. It is that soft that you can scratch it with your fingernail.
Exposure to air, it will tarnish grey due to an oxidation
process. Compared to other heavy metals, lead is relatively
noble and ranks between tin and wolfram. Although lead is
toxic, it can be safely used as a base alloy in brass because
of its secure structure integration. In its pure condition, it is
only used for the production of weights.
Chromium
p Chemical symbol Cr; bluish white lustrous heavy metal;
melting point 1890°C; density 7.2 g/cm 3 . This malleable
and ductile metal is, exposure to air, extremely corrosion
resistant, since it is coated by a thin oxide film which will
protect it from further corrosion. Therefore chromium is
corrosion resistant in humid air, against water and strongly
oxidising acids, such as concentrated nitric acid. In galvanic
chromium-plating, thin chromium layers are applied to
coated materials. Chromium is the main alloy metal for use
in rustless chromium steels.
Copper
p Chemical symbol Cu (from Latin cuprum); reddish lustrous
heavy metal; melting point 1083°C; density 8.9 g/cm 3 . Best
electric and heat conductor after silver. Copper is absolutely
resistant against UV and has a high diffusion density and
corrosion resistance, is multifunctional usable and is easy to
process. Copper is one of the main commodity metals, but it
is forming toxic verdigris in combination with acetic acid.
