Course contents Description<br />
SL 3<br />
Basic cOurse in Medical chirOpOdy<br />
Basic courses are full-time courses from Monday to Friday. As a preparation<br />
for the exam, the participants will be thoroughly taught in practical and<br />
theoretical parts as well as in medicine. The aim of the training is to impart a<br />
sound knowledge in the field of:<br />
• anatomy, physiology, pathology with emphasis on the lower<br />
extremities and special regard to diabetic diseases<br />
• composition, effect and application fields of various medicine<br />
• safety regulations/guidelines<br />
• lawful aspects<br />
The practical part of training deals with skills and knowledge in medical<br />
ciropody. Subjects are among other things:<br />
• disinfection, sterilization<br />
• wound treatment<br />
• recognition, prevention and treatment of all existing foot diseases<br />
which are not obligatory treated by a doctor. Futhermore foot<br />
diseases which should be treated with medical chiropody before<br />
going to the doctor`s<br />
• milling and scalpel techniques.<br />
In addition to this, the training covers basic knowledge of physical therapy<br />
and prevention methods of foot diseases. Models for practical exercises are<br />
sufficiently available.<br />
The basic course in medical ciropody does not deal with footmassagereflexregions<br />
and pressure relief and correction orthosis. After passing the final<br />
exam under the chairmanship of a doctor, the acquired qualification will be<br />
certified by a diploma.<br />
