Talentierte Studierende müssen stärker gefördert<br />
werden. Aus diesem Grund engagiert<br />
sich die HU für das neue Programm des Bildungsministeriums:<br />
das Deutschlandstipendium.<br />
Seit dem Sommersemester 2011 erhalten<br />
Studierende der HU dieses Stipendium und bekommen<br />
ein Jahr lang 300 Euro pro Monat als<br />
Zusc<strong>hu</strong>ss <strong>zu</strong>m Lebensunterhalt.<br />
Mit den Deutschlandstipendien fördert<br />
die HU Begabte, die sich durch hervorragende<br />
Studienleistungen auszeichnen. Doch nicht<br />
nur Leistung zählt. Gesellscha� liches wie soziales<br />
Engagement, die bisherige Ausbildung<br />
sowie familiäre und soziale Umstände können<br />
die Auswahl bestimmen.<br />
»Es ist ein wichtiges gesellscha� liches Signal,<br />
dass das Deutschlandstipendium ausdrücklich<br />
keine Eliten-, sondern eine Begabtenförderung<br />
ist«, sagt HU-Präsident Prof. Dr.<br />
Jan-Hendrik Olbertz. »Es kommt insbesondere<br />
jungen Menschen <strong>zu</strong> Gute, die in ihrem Studium<br />
herausragende Leistungen erbringen, unabhängig<br />
von ihrer Herkun� .«<br />
Ein Stipendium kostet für ein Jahr 1.800<br />
Euro, die der Bund im Prinzip des »Matching<br />
Funds« verdoppelt. Das Engagement von privaten<br />
Sti� ern fördert so talentierten Nachwuchs<br />
und trägt <strong>zu</strong>m Aufbau einer Stipendienkultur<br />
in Deutschland und <strong>Berlin</strong> bei.<br />

Talented students need more support. This is<br />
why HU is committed to the German Federal<br />
Ministry of Education‘s new programme: the<br />
»Deutschlandstipendium«. HU students receive<br />
this scholarship since 2011 summer semester: a<br />
subsidy towards living costs amounting to<br />
€300 per month for a year.<br />
HU will use the »Deutschlandstipendium«<br />
scholarships to support gi� ed students who<br />
have outstanding academic achievements to<br />
their name. But it‘s not only academic performance<br />
that counts. Societal and social commitment,<br />
previous education and training, and<br />
the applicant‘s family and social circumstances<br />
can also infl uence who will receive the scholarship.<br />
»It is an important social signal that the<br />
›Deutschlandstipendium‹ is expressly a grant<br />
not for an elite, but for gi� ed students,« says<br />
HU President Prof. Dr Jan-Hendrik Olbertz. »It<br />
will benefi t particularly young people who<br />
have performed outstandingly well in their studies,<br />
irrespective of their beckground.«<br />
A one-year scholarship will cost €1,800,<br />
and the federal government will double this according<br />
to the »matching funds« principle. The<br />
commitment of private sponsors will t<strong>hu</strong>s promote<br />
talented young people and help build up a<br />
scholarship culture in Germany and <strong>Berlin</strong>.<br />
