Salzburg - zweitgrößter Handelsplatz Österreichs
und führender Mode-Standort
Das Bundesland Salzburg ist eine der dynamischsten
Wirtschaftsregionen in Europa. Als Mitglied der
Europäischen Union rückt Österreich mit der Erweiterung
nach Zentral- und Osteuropa in den Mittelpunkt
der Gemeinschaft. Seither kommt Salzburg
eine bedeutsame Rolle als wirtschaftliche Drehscheibe
von Nord nach Süd und West nach Ost zu. Mit
seinen KMUs, Industriebetrieben und Weltmarktführern
ist Salzburg bei Bruttoregionalprodukt, niedriger
Arbeitslosigkeit und mit seiner jährlichen Wirtschaftsleistung
von rund 24 Mrd. Euro einer der führenden
Wirtschaftsstandorte in Österreich. Die klein- und
mittelbetrieblich orientierte Wirtschaft hat sich als
krisensicherer Stabilitätsfaktor erwiesen. Zwei Drittel
der Unternehmen sind im Handel, Fremdenverkehr
und den unternehmensnahen Dienstleistungen tätig.
Salzburg als DER Mode-Standort Österreichs
Auch der Modebereich ist in Salzburg ein bedeutender
Wirtschaftsfaktor und zugleich auch wichtiger
Arbeitgeber und Lehrlingsausbildner. Dass Salzburg
das Zentrum der Mode- und Lifestlye-Branche in
Österreich ist, zeigt die Tatsache, dass hier alleine
das Umsatzvolumen im Business-to-Business-Bereich
rund eine Milliarde Euro pro Jahr beträgt. Überdies
verfügt Salzburg über 1.200 Textilhändler und
Kleidermacher, dazu kommen Handelsagenten und
etliche Big Player in der Bekleidungsindustrie. Last
but not least ist in Salzburg auch die „Brandboxx“
beheimatet, die als Dreh- und Angelpunkt der Modebranche
gilt. Das größte Modegroßhandelscenter
Österreichs und national einzige Shoe-Order
Center hat sich über die Jahre zum bedeutendsten
Modestandort im Lande, auch für Schuhe und die
Sportbranche, entwickelt.
Schon längst ist Salzburg auch zu einem Hotspot für
Trachtenmode geworden. Einige große Player – wie
zB. Gössl – und viele kleinere Unternehmen – wie
zB. Wimmer schneidert, Gaisberger Couture, Beurle,
Lanz, Susanne Spatt oder die Habsburg Kleidermanufaktur
– tragen ihren Teil dazu bei, das Land Salzburg
als Heimat für exklusive Trachtenmode, Tradition
und hochwertige Handwerkskunst wertzuschätzen.
Weil zum Thema Mode auch Kreativität und Design
gehören, kann der Mode-Standort Salzburg auch in
der Ausbildung hochqualifizierte Einrichtungen – wie
etwa die Modeschule in Hallein, die Universität Mozarteum
(Bühnen- und Kostümgestaltung) und die
Fachhochschule Puch-Urstein im Bereich Medien
und Design – vorweisen.

and a leading fashion location
Salzburg State is one of the most dynamic economic
regions in Europe. As the EU expands into
Central and Eastern Europe, Austria is finding itself
at the centre of the union, which means Salzburg
plays an increasingly important role as an economic
hub between north and south, west and east. With
its small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), industrial
companies and global market leaders, Salzburg
is one of Austria’s leading business locations
in terms of its gross regional product (GRP), its low
unemployment rate, and its annual economic output
of around 24 billion euros. The local economy
is predominantly structured around small and medium-sized
enterprises, which has turned out to be a
stabilising factor in withstanding times of crisis. Two
thirds of the region’s businesses operate in commerce,
tourism or industry-related services.
Salzburg, the fashion destination of Austria
The fashion industry is a significant economic element
of Salzburg, while at the same time also being
a major employer and apprentice trainer. To understand
why Salzburg is at the heart of Austria’s fashion
and lifestyle industry, you only have to look at
the fact that B2B revenue alone amounts to a billion
euros a year. Salzburg is home to over 1,200 textile
dealers and garment manufacturers, along with
trade agents and several big players in the fashion
industry. Last but not least, the Brandboxx, situated
in Salzburg, has a reputation as the industry’s focal
point. Over the years, Austria’s largest fashion
wholesaler and only shoe order centre has developed
into the country’s most important fashion location,
for sectors including shoes and sportswear
as well.
Salzburg has long since been a hotspot for traditional
costume fashion. Whether you’re talking
about big players – like Gössl – or the many smaller
companies – like Wimmer schneidert, Gaisberger
Couture, Beurle, Lanz, Susanne Spatt or Habsburg
Kleidermanufaktur – they all play their part in making
Salzburg state the cherished home of exclusive traditional
costume fashion, tradition, and high-quality
craftsmanship.
Because creativity and design are inextricably bound
up with the fashion business, Salzburg also boasts a
number of highly respected educational institutions,
like the Modeschule in Hallein, Mozarteum University’s
stage design course, or the University of Applied
Science’s media and design courses in Puch/Urstein.
