RULE 108 PATROL - ALERTNESS ON. A police officer
shall not lounge, loaf or otherwise idle
on his post. He shall not sit down unless his
assignment requires it; lean against walls,
posts, or trees; or conduct himself in any
manner other than as a responsible official
exposed to publ ic observation and critiCism,
with impor tant work to do.
RULE 109 ENTER ING BU I LDIHG. A patrolman, on
duty, shall not enter any house, theatre, or
other such pI ace except when authorized, or in
the strict discha,rge of his duties.
RULE 110 TELEPHONE REPORTS. A patrolman
shall famil iarize h imsel f with the location
of fire and pol ice signal boxes and all telephones
on his post avail able to his use. Duri
ng his hours of patrol duty, he sha.ll report
to the police telephone operator from the
p olice signal box at such times and places as
may be designated by his district commander.
If the pol ice signal box is out of order,
or condi tions prevent the use 0 f the sign al
box, he shall make his report by means of the
nearest public telephone. Whenever assignments
or conditions prevent a prescribed report
from a signal box at the scheduled time,
the officer shall submit a written explanation
of the circumstances to his commanding officer
at the end of his tour of duty.
Except in cases of ew.ergency, a patrolman
shall not submit signal reports from the same
box on two successi ve calls when there are two
or more signal boxes within his post.
Patrolmen assigned to school, church or
hazardous crossings shall be excused from making
signal reports while attending such crossing.
