RULE 278 ORDERS GIVEN BY AN AIDE. A member
shall obey all orders gi ven him/he r by a member
of equal or lesse r rank when said member
i s me r e ly rel ay ing the o rders of a s uperi o r
officer.
RULE 279 SUBORDINATE TO BE SUSTAINED . A s uperi
o r officer shall sustain a subordinate
member when he/she is acti ng within his/ he r
ri gh ts whi le performing his/ her assigned
duti es .
RULE 280 SUBORDINATE TO BE CORRECTED. A superior
off i cer shall correct a subordinate
member wh en he/she is acting i n confl ict of
a ny l a w, ordinance o r the rules and regulations
of the departme nt. Correction shou ld be
made in a dignified manner in keeping with the
decorum of the officer' s stati on . Whenever
possible, censuring of s ubo rdinates s houl d be
done in a pl ace apart from other me mbers of
the department. Tyranni cal conduct or abusive
1 anguage are not to be used by a superior when
co rrec tin g a su bordinate.
RULE 281 MEMBERS TO I DENTI FY THEMSELVES. A
member 0 f the department shall co rrectly
identify himself/ herself by givi ng his/he r
n ame , rank and star number when so r equested
e i the r by other members 0 f the depar tmen t or
by a private citizen.
RULE 282 ANSWERING THE TELEPHONE. Wh en
answering e ither the pu blic o r PAX telephone,
a member of the department shall state his
di strict (bureau, sec tio n, unit) r ank and surname.
