RULE 278 ORDERS GIVEN BY AN AIDE. A member<br />
shall obey all orders gi ven him/he r by a member<br />
of equal or lesse r rank when said member<br />
i s me r e ly rel ay ing the o rders of a s uperi o r<br />
officer.<br />
RULE 279 SUBORDINATE TO BE SUSTAINED . A s uperi<br />
o r officer shall sustain a subordinate<br />
member when he/she is acti ng within his/ he r<br />
ri gh ts whi le performing his/ her assigned<br />
duti es .<br />
RULE 280 SUBORDINATE TO BE CORRECTED. A superior<br />
off i cer shall correct a subordinate<br />
member wh en he/she is acting i n confl ict of<br />
a ny l a w, ordinance o r the rules and regulations<br />
of the departme nt. Correction shou ld be<br />
made in a dignified manner in keeping with the<br />
decorum of the officer' s stati on . Whenever<br />
possible, censuring of s ubo rdinates s houl d be<br />
done in a pl ace apart from other me mbers of<br />
the department. Tyranni cal conduct or abusive<br />
1 anguage are not to be used by a superior when<br />
co rrec tin g a su bordinate.<br />
RULE 281 MEMBERS TO I DENTI FY THEMSELVES. A<br />
member 0 f the department shall co rrectly<br />
identify himself/ herself by givi ng his/he r<br />
n ame , rank and star number when so r equested<br />
e i the r by other members 0 f the depar tmen t or<br />
by a private citizen.<br />
RULE 282 ANSWERING THE TELEPHONE. Wh en<br />
answering e ither the pu blic o r PAX telephone,<br />
a member of the department shall state his<br />
di strict (bureau, sec tio n, unit) r ank and surname.<br />
