of tbe Detective Di vision. He shall have such<br />

other duties, powers and responsibi lities as<br />

shall be designated by the Deputy to the Commissioner<br />

for Field Forces.<br />

RULE II GRAVE CRI MES. The Chief of Detec­<br />

·tives shall, when circumstar;ces require it,<br />

personally visit the scenes of crimes of unusual<br />

character or great magnitude and acquaint<br />

himself with the location and conditions<br />

in order that he may better direct their<br />

investigation. He shall cause photographs to<br />

be taken, charts drafted, latent fingerprints<br />

recorded and other useful evidence preserved<br />

at the scene of the crime whenever they may be<br />

used to detect the offender or to prosecute<br />

the case in court. He shall cause statements<br />

to be taken from principal witnesses and persons<br />

suspected or involved in serious crimes.<br />

RULE 12 SPECIAL UNITS AND DETAILS. The Chief<br />

of Detectives, upon authority of the Commissioner<br />

of Police, shall organize such special<br />

un its and details as are necessary to perform<br />

the duties assigned to the division.<br />

DEPUTY CHIEF OF THE DETECTIVE DIVISION<br />

RULE 13 RESPONSI 81 LI TIES. The Deputy Chief<br />

of the Detective Division shall be responsible<br />

to and report directly to the Chief of the Detective<br />

Division. He shall assist the Chief<br />

of the Detective Division in the performance·<br />

of his duties; shall perform such other duties<br />

as are assigned to him by the Chief of the Detective<br />

Division, and shall assume the duties<br />

and responsibilities of the Chief of the Detective<br />

Division during his absence.<br />
