other duties, powers and responsibi lities as
shall be designated by the Deputy to the Commissioner
for Field Forces.
RULE II GRAVE CRI MES. The Chief of Detec­
·tives shall, when circumstar;ces require it,
personally visit the scenes of crimes of unusual
character or great magnitude and acquaint
himself with the location and conditions
in order that he may better direct their
investigation. He shall cause photographs to
be taken, charts drafted, latent fingerprints
recorded and other useful evidence preserved
at the scene of the crime whenever they may be
used to detect the offender or to prosecute
the case in court. He shall cause statements
to be taken from principal witnesses and persons
suspected or involved in serious crimes.
RULE 12 SPECIAL UNITS AND DETAILS. The Chief
of Detectives, upon authority of the Commissioner
of Police, shall organize such special
un its and details as are necessary to perform
the duties assigned to the division.
DEPUTY CHIEF OF THE DETECTIVE DIVISION
RULE 13 RESPONSI 81 LI TIES. The Deputy Chief
of the Detective Division shall be responsible
to and report directly to the Chief of the Detective
Division. He shall assist the Chief
of the Detective Division in the performance·
of his duties; shall perform such other duties
as are assigned to him by the Chief of the Detective
Division, and shall assume the duties
and responsibilities of the Chief of the Detective
Division during his absence.
