STANLY COUNTY<br />
In addition to the <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> Steering Committee, two rounds of Public Input Forums were<br />
held to gain public information regarding the <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> at important points in the planning<br />
process. The first round of Public Input Forums were held in August 2001 and included five<br />
meetings held throughout the county. The purposes of the first round Public Input Forums was<br />
to present findings obtained during the existing conditions analysis phase of the planning<br />
process, and to obtain citizen input regarding issues and concerns regarding the future of the<br />
county.<br />
The second round of Public Input Forums were held in March <strong>2002</strong> and were designed to<br />
provide citizens with an opportunity to comment on the preliminary draft recommendations of the<br />
<strong>Land</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>.<br />
The <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> Steering Committee recommended the plan’s adoption in April <strong>2002</strong>. On<br />
May 13, <strong>2002</strong>, a Public Hearing of the <strong>Stanly</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Plan</strong>ning Commission was held to accept<br />
formal public comment regarding the plan’s findings, recommendations, and implementation<br />
measures. The <strong>Land</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>Plan</strong> was adopted by the Board of <strong>County</strong> Commissioners on June 24,<br />
<strong>2002</strong>.<br />
