411-340-0130 Using <strong>Support</strong> <strong>Services</strong> Funds to Purchase <strong>Support</strong>s<br />

(Amended 12/28/2011)<br />

(1) A brokerage may use support services funds to assist individuals to<br />

purchase supports in accordance <strong>with</strong> an ISP when:<br />

(a) <strong>Support</strong>s are necessary <strong>for</strong> an individual to live in the individual's<br />

own <strong>home</strong> or in the family <strong>home</strong>;<br />

(b) Cost-effective arrangements <strong>for</strong> obtaining the required supports,<br />

applying public, private, <strong>for</strong>mal, and in<strong>for</strong>mal resources available to<br />

the eligible individual are specified in the ISP;<br />

(A) <strong>Support</strong> services funds are not intended to replace the<br />

resources available to an individual from their natural support<br />

system. <strong>Support</strong> services funds may be authorized only when<br />

the natural support system is unavailable, insufficient, or<br />

inadequate to meet the needs of the individual.<br />

(B) <strong>Support</strong> services funds are not available when an<br />

individual’s support needs may be met by alternative resources.<br />

inadequate to meet the needs of the individual.<br />

(c) An individual is receiving crisis diversion services according to<br />

OAR 411-320-0160 and:<br />

(A) Crisis diversion services allowed by OAR 411-320-0160 do<br />

not provide the necessary support;<br />

(B) The support was identified as necessary prior to the onset<br />

of the crisis;<br />
