Fan shutdown<br />

The definition – fan shutdown– means standstill of the fan for<br />

a longer period of time. It is necessary to weather-proof the<br />

fan.<br />

In case the fans are intermediately stored for more than 3<br />

months observe the instructions of the separate “Instructions<br />

for Storage and Corrosion Protection”. If necessary, request<br />

them from Konrad Reitz <strong>Ventilatoren</strong> GmbH & Co. KG.<br />

Works required for putting the fan out of action must exclusively<br />

be carried out by specialist personnel, that due to<br />

professional training, experiences and instructions has sufficient<br />

knowledge about:<br />

- Safety regulations,<br />

- Regulations for prevention of accidents,<br />

- Directives and accepted engineering standards (e.g.<br />

German VDE-directives, DIN EN Standards).<br />

- The specialist personnel must:<br />

- be able to assess the works allocated to them, to recognize<br />

possible dangers and to avoid them.<br />

- be authorized by the person who is responsible for the safety<br />

of the plant to carry out the required works and tasks.<br />

Works on electric systems, like disconnecting the fan<br />

from the electric supply, must exclusively be carried<br />

out by professional electricians.<br />

� Disconnect fan from the power supply.<br />

� If a future re-commissioning is intended, protect all structural<br />

components against corrosion.<br />

� Cover machine parts.<br />

Dispose properly of all lubricants, oils and any other<br />

materials dispose of them in a safe manner consistent<br />

with all applicable regulations and in an environmentally<br />

compatible way.<br />
