1. INTRODUCTION COST ACTION E22: Environmental optimisation of wood protection Invitations were sent out to research organisations and universities, which are known possibly being active. It was asked for contributions to this state of the art document. One organisation replied, however in the near future when work program in detail will be circled by the COST E 22 web side more input can be expected. This document is structured to offer contact information for participants and an introduction to their principal interests and research expertise within the scope of the COST Action E22. The second section within this report gives more detail on specific activities related to the three working groups within the COST Action E22 (Annex 2). RESEARCH ACTIVITIES BY WORKING GROUPS The activities of each participant are presented here, classified according to the respective scientific areas defined in the Memorandum of Understanding of COST Action E22. Preferable projects are listed, where activities can be published for state of art in 1999. Contact persons are additionally mentioned.
