1. INTRODUCTION COST ACTION E22: Environmental optimisation of wood protection Invitations were sent out to eleven research organisations and universities in Portugal to ask for their contributions to this state of the art document. Ten groups from seven organisations replied and this document is based on those responses, particularly those that included research work on the relevant areas. 2.
