3.5 BINDER<br />
3.5.1 All binder used in the <strong>Hot</strong> <strong>Rolled</strong> <strong>Asphalt</strong><br />
<strong>and</strong> <strong>Asphalt</strong> <strong>Concrete</strong> (<strong>Macadam</strong>) shall be CE<br />
marked.<br />
3.5.2 The binder to be used for a particular<br />
material shall be in accordance with Table 3.5.<br />
3.5.3 The particular grade <strong>of</strong> bitumen for a<br />
material shall be selected based on a number <strong>of</strong><br />
factors in accordance with the requirements <strong>of</strong><br />
Sections 4, 5 <strong>and</strong> 6 for <strong>Hot</strong> <strong>Rolled</strong> <strong>Asphalt</strong>,<br />
<strong>Asphalt</strong> <strong>Concrete</strong> (<strong>Macadam</strong>) <strong>and</strong> Pervious<br />
<strong>Macadam</strong>, respectively.<br />
3.5.4 The binder shall be paving grade<br />
petroleum bitumen meeting the requirements <strong>of</strong><br />
BS EN 12591. The Contractor (or Supplier on his<br />
behalf) shall have Quality Assurance registration<br />
to the BS EN ISO 9000 series incorporating<br />
“Sector Scheme 15”, Supply <strong>of</strong> Paving Grade<br />
Bitumen.<br />
