cc and Pmax were either pre-detennined from ' 4C light curves (June 1999 values<br />

were used for the July 1999 study) or on 14C light curves taken on the day <strong>of</strong> the<br />

study (actual curves were taken on each day in March 2000).<br />

A coulter particle size analyser was used to detennine grain size.<br />

6.3.1. Diel changes in chlorophyll a<br />

Changes in the chlorophyll a content (1999)<br />

The Hythe was the highest biomass (expressed as chlorophyll a content)<br />

site followed by Point Clear, then Arlesford Creek (F7,138 = 9.10, p 45 % <strong>of</strong> the total chlorophyll a in the surface mm<br />

was found in the top 400 gm. See Table 6.5 for summary.<br />
