Protocol 2:<br />

This gradient was run for 40 min and used an additional Solvent, Solvent<br />

C (Table 2.2; Figure 2.7) to aid carotene elution (BIOPTIS).<br />

Solvents A and B: as above<br />

Solvent C: 565 ml <strong>of</strong> methanol and 435ml <strong>of</strong> propanol.<br />
