complaining <strong>of</strong> Dr Lowths Treatment <strong>of</strong> him. I tried by two Letters to<br />
the former, which see, to procure a Reconciliation between them: but<br />
had no answer to the last <strong>of</strong> them. Dr Lowth was well disposed. I believe<br />
neither <strong>of</strong> them hath since taken any Notice <strong>of</strong> the other.]<br />
I gave the Widow <strong>of</strong> Dr Brakenridge 20 1 * towds the Expences <strong>of</strong> her<br />
journey to Scotland. *)[I had subscribed before 10 Guineas to her<br />

& Advice that I could towards a correct Edition <strong>of</strong> the English Bible<br />

. Zebedee Elsom, I think <strong>of</strong> Spalding, being the Grandson <strong>of</strong> my<br />
Fathers Sister, <strong>of</strong> a good Character, & in low Circumstances, I have<br />
given him 5 Guineas a Year ever since I first heard <strong>of</strong> him, which was<br />
some Years ago, & the last {two} Years, ten Guineas {each}.<br />

who granted it in a most gracious Letter, written with his own Hand, <strong>of</strong><br />
