President: and the Clerks assured me, that Orders were gone for that<br />

Purpose. But no Orders went: & Sir Henry Moor, Governor <strong>of</strong> New<br />

York, granted away these Lands, without the least Regard to the Clergy<br />

& Society. On finding this, I applied again to the Committee <strong>of</strong> Council,<br />

that the Governors Proceedings might be stopped; & such Amends<br />

made, as might still be possible. And I desired, that Mr Johnson, who<br />

came over from America as Agent for other Grantees, & had been<br />

appointed ours also, might be heard by them for both. But this was<br />
