1767 them, & sent to the Parochial Clergy under their Jurisdiction;<br />
directing them, in pursuance <strong>of</strong> the Kings Orders, to<br />
make their Returns to the Bishops <strong>of</strong> the Dioceses within which they are<br />

Fleming, a Socinian Dissenting Teacher, having patronized in a News<br />
Paper the beforementioned Calumny against Bp Butler, I confuted him<br />
in the same Paper by a third Letter signed Misopseudes. See P. 72.<br />
And a Person, stiling himself a Student, having endeavoured to<br />
prove in a News Paper, that Popish Priests, converts to the Church <strong>of</strong><br />
England, ought to be reordained; I answered him in the same Paper, by<br />

Mr Bensons Place, <strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the six Preachers, to Mr Thompson, Vicar<br />
<strong>of</strong> Elham, <strong>of</strong> whom see before. And Dr Geekies {Living} Vicarage <strong>of</strong><br />
All-hallows, Barking, worth near 400^ a Year, but clear about 250* 1 , I<br />

1767 And Dr Denne, Rector <strong>of</strong> Lambeth, dying not long<br />
after, I gave that Rectory, worth near 600^ a year, but<br />
above 400 clear, to Dr Porteus, my other Chaplain, to hold with<br />
Hunton, one <strong>of</strong> the Livings, which I had given him before. I did this,<br />
because I had engaged him to continue my Chaplain: & for the same<br />
Reason I must do something more for Dr Stinton, if I can.<br />
In September I gave 20 1 * to Mr Landon <strong>of</strong> Ifield, a worthy Orthodox<br />
Clergyman, disabled by a stroke <strong>of</strong> the Palsy from <strong>of</strong>ficiating<br />
I gave the Rectory <strong>of</strong> Wittrisham, vacant by the Cession <strong>of</strong> Dr<br />
Stinton, to Mr Winde <strong>of</strong> Pembroke College, at whose Grandfathers<br />
House {at Gloucester,} I had formerly lodged two Years. And I engaged<br />
him to attend me as my Chaplain, when Dr Stinton or Dr Porteus<br />
should be absent.<br />
Oct. 1. I gave 200^ to augment the Vicarage or Curacy <strong>of</strong> Little<br />
Brickhill, which is in the Gift <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Archbishop</strong>.<br />

mended to the King, Mr Backhouse or Mr Whissen for the Place<br />
