On January 21, 1997, the Fort Myers City Council approved the Development Order for the City's portion of the Gateway Community. A portion of the project, within the City of Fort
Myers, will split off as the new Sun City Fort Myers DRI (ID #166). On November 5, 2001, the City of Fort Myers approved an NOPC (Resolution 2001-62) removing 1,105.06 acres
from the DRI, which will become the Colonial Golf and Country Club PUD.
