CHAPTER TWENTY SIX
C26. THE IMPORTANT WOMEN IN MY
LIFE
I have always had the good fortune of having
people around me with whom I could share the
successes as well as the tragedies in my life.
For the most part these people have been the
important women in my life – my dear mother,
Rose, my beautiful daughters, Jacqueline and
Vanessa, of course my Lesley and now at long
last my granddaughter Scarlet Rose. I am a
lucky man to have four fantastic women in my
life. Jacqueline is well documented here and
elsewhere, but I love her and Vanessa equally,
and I cherish them both, although in different
ways.
Vanessa has been a great joy to me; full of fun
and mischief. She married Nick, her soul mate,
and you can see the two of them are so
content together. It gives me a huge amount
of pleasure to see her so happily married, with
a nice house and roses around the front door.
It is terrific for her and for me, and we remain
great pals.
Vanessa was a tomboy as a child, and to this
day is a fun-loving lady who doesn’t take
herself too seriously and is blessed with a great
personality.
I have nothing but fond memories of Vanessa
growing up apart from one dreadful moment
that ranks amongst my worst experiences; she
nearly died when she was just three years old.
