young girl was bold enough to ask who was in
the picture on the wall. Lesley told her it was
the new man in her life, and the young girl
turned round and said, ‘It must be really nice
to have a companion at your time of life.’
It made Lesley feel a hundred years old when
in fact she is twenty years younger than me; a
subject we have no difficulty in laughing about.
Age really is just a number as far as our
relationship is concerned.
Lesley had a small but exclusive clientele and
she handpicked her clients from people she
liked. She is so meticulous, she would spend
half an hour preparing for them, hardly the
‘next please’ attitude you normally get. She
prided herself in her cleanliness and
preparedness, so that her clients could walk
straight in and find her ready to begin. I have
no doubt she will still keep her special clients,
even though she has officially retired. Her skill
as a beauty therapist can be judged by the
way she has made me look so incredibly young
and handsome!
Lesley is adorable and the impact she has had
on my life is remarkable. Take my home, for
example. Before Lesley came into my life it
was very masculine, with paintings of warring
battleships with exploding cannons; in their
place now are pictures of flowers and gardens,
which gives the decor a softer, warmer look.
The house now feels lived in.
She has also changed my outlook on many
things. I am not normally a person to take long
