Ralph and I were also pursued relentlessly by
the authorities, who continually picked on the
so called ‘porn’ industry.
But this just strengthened the bond between
us.
We have never had a business argument in all
our years. Of course we have had small
disagreements, and he has always agreed in
the end that he was wrong, which I thought
was very nice of him!
Somehow one of us had strength in areas
where the other was weak. As well as the
almost telepathic communication and
understanding between us, our strong work
ethic has stood us in good stead throughout
our business lives. We had been pals right the
way through our partnership which lasted for
over 50 years. Most relationships seem to fail
due to pressure of business, especially blood
relationships, but we had great trust in each
other and the stronger would always take up
the baton. No pride was involved; the weaker
one in any given situation would always take
up a supporting role.
It all goes back to being side by side at Burke
Secondary Modern when the bullies wanted to
take on the two Jewish brothers; little urchins
from the back streets of the East End slums.
We are brothers and best friends. That is the
way it has always been and always will be.
