Apricot Towers at Silicon Oasis
of Dubai
Vigorous implementation of L&T’s work ethics
and refined work practices often provide firm
base and sustainability in challenging work
environments. This was once again evident through
the successful execution of ‘Apricot Towers’ in Dubai-a
region that is witnessing upheavals due to dynamic
economics.
Financial performance
Adherence to the policy of maximizing
stakeholder's interest by identification &
implementation of value engineering has
benefited the client considerably. The expensive
materials as per the basic contract were replaced
by more appropriate and cost effective materials.
The project is situated in the plush premises of Dubai Such proactive practices have enhanced the
Silicon Oasis which is established with an objective of
facilitating and promoting modern technology-based
industries in the emirate of Dubai.
mutual interest and received applause from the
consultant and the client alike.
‘Apricot’ can be an exclusive case study due to its
This project was well executed in compliance to the
success which can be gauged through multiple
customer expectation and L&T’s quality standards.
parameters like project profitability, value
The client had at several occasions appreciated the
engineering, realization of claims & variations,
work performance and recommended the high
quality of work, customer delight, resource
quality ratings. The project bagged the prestigious
optimization and congeniality with new ventures. ‘Quality Trophy 2007-08’ declared by L&T
Project architecture
It is a 17 floor commercial tower that includes two
tier basement, ground floor, two podiums, and
twelve typical floors with more than 42,000 square
meter of built up area. The structure encompasses 9
shops, 132 leasable areas and service areas
flanked with commensurate modern facilities. The
external face of the structure comprises ACP
cladding and high quality glass curtain wall.
The structure is built on 194 concrete piles. The
entire pilling work was executed by L&T’s in-house
team to the exacting specifications.
Optimum resource usage
The outcome of effective team work and adaptability
in operations have surpassed the conceived
productivity norms and increased the resource
efficacy. Additionally, the anticipated risk of acute
material shortage in the market, especially concrete,
during the peak of operation was tactfully mitigated.
While executing these improved practices to speed up
the work, cost concern was a focal point and this
thoughtfulness fetched more value for money spent
on resources.
