L&T Formwork Factory wins Energy
Conservation Award 2009

Award from the Honourable Chief Minister of Puducherry, Mr. V.Vaithilingam.
L&T Formwork factory at Puducherry won the coveted
Energy Conservation Award from the Bureau of
Energy Efficiency, New Delhi (BEE) and Renewable
Energy Agency Pondicherry (REAP) in recognition of its
exemplary practices in energy conservation.

The formwork establishment of L&T at
Puducherry has introduced various
energy saving practices like solar
powered security office, installation of
energy saving LED Lamps and CFL
instead of high power mercury vapour
lamps. The factory has also introduced
1.5 kW solar photovoltaic systems with
LED lights, and has replaced HPSV
250 lamps with 25W CFL and 400W
HPSV Lamps with 150W induction
lamps.
These measures collectively contributed in
saving around 17000 units of energy during 2008-
09. In other words the savings are almost equal to
11300 KG-C of CO 2 cut effect, and saving of about
34000 sq.m of forest every year.
