Awards <strong>2009</strong> in Mumbai on<br />
<strong>Oct</strong>ober 8, <strong>2009</strong>. L&T featured as<br />
one of ‘India’s Most Admired<br />
Companies’ in the annual<br />
contest organised by <strong>Construction</strong><br />
World, a leading trade journal.<br />
L&T was in the limelight again,<br />
being ranked as the ‘Largest &<br />
Most Profitable <strong>Construction</strong><br />
Company.’ As India’s leading<br />
construction company, L&T has<br />
been consistently featured at the<br />
top of the rankings. This is the<br />
seventh year in succession that<br />
L&T has secured the award.<br />
Mr. K.V. Rangaswami, Member Board and President<br />
(<strong>Construction</strong>), received the trophies and certificates<br />
from Mr. Kamal Nath, Union Minister for Road<br />
L&T’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. A.M. Naik was<br />
conferred the Bharat Shiromani Award at a glittering ceremony in<br />
New Delhi on September 30, <strong>2009</strong>. His Excellency the Governor<br />
of Orissa, Mr. M.C. Bhandare, handed over the award to<br />
Mr. Naik. The Bharat Shiromani Award was instituted in 1977 to<br />
focus public attention on outstanding achievements of people of<br />
Indian origin, both resident and non-resident. Awardees are<br />
chosen on the basis of competitive merit, high calibre and<br />
commitment to national progress and human welfare. Mr. Naik<br />
was honoured with the award for his outstanding contribution to<br />
Indian industry. Former recipients of this award include such<br />
illustrious personalities as Mother Teresa, Dalai Lama, Justice<br />
P.N. Bhagwati and Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia.<br />
