3.1 Installing
Ensure that Apache2 Web Server is installed and running before you start to install Tivoli Netcool
Performance Flow Analyzer. The installation steps are as follows:
1. Install the package.
2. Create an administrator account.
3. Restart the system.
4. Log into the Tivoli Netcool Performance Flow Analyzer server.
5. Update the license (only needed for trial version).
6. Create a user account.
3.1.1 Installing the package
Installation requires root administration rights. You can create an operating-system account called
tnpfa with root privileges, or you can use the root account.
Note: On a RHEL environment, SELinux should be disabled before installation.
To disable SELinux, turn off SELinux enforcing. Complete the following steps as root administrator:
1. Open the /etc/sysconfig/selinux file.
2. Find the following line:
SELINUX=enforcing
3. Change this line as follows:
SELINUX=disabled
4. Restart the system.
Tivoli Netcool Performance Flow Analyzer is packaged as a physical DVD, a DVD image, or an
electronic archive (that is, a tar file). Extract the files from the archive with the following command:
# tar xf CZ5FAEN.tar
Note: The archive might be distributed with a different file name.
The INSTALL installation script is in the top directory (on DVD or extracted archive):
# cd CZ5FAEN
# ./INSTALL
3.1.2 Installing as an upgrade
To install the Tivoli Netcool Performance Flow Analyzer 4.1.1 release on a system that already has
Tivoli Netcool Performance Flow Analyzer 4.1.0 installed, there are a number of steps that must be
performed
