3.1.6 Updating the license

Tivoli Netcool Performance Flow Analyzer requires a valid license file for complete operation. By
default, the Tivoli Netcool Performance Flow Analyzer package contains a license file that is enabled
during the installation. If that is the case, this section can be skipped. The availability of the license file
can be checked from the server console with the tnpfa command:
# tnpfa status
For license configuration, log into the system with your administrator credentials and click
Administrative Site > Configuration > License > Update. Figure 3-3 shows the license update
window. Paste the license file content (including the signature section) into the text field and apply.
When Tivoli Netcool Performance Flow Analyzer is upgraded or reinstalled, the license file might
exist already in the /etc/tnpfa directory. The license file might have to be decompressed - for
example, if it is distributed with the .gz file extension.
The license determines the duration and set of enabled features. The license can be viewed as a text
file, or in the user interface by using the administrator site at Configuration > License Information
(see Figure 3-1).
