4.5 Infrastructure Status<br />

As of 2008, Nagaland had a total road length of 15,078 km. Of this, about 70 per cent were State<br />

Highways. Also, about 44 per cent is surfaced and the remaining 56 per cent is un-surfaced roads. At<br />

1,541 km, Mokokchung district has the highest road length, followed by Kohima district. As of 2007-08,<br />

the Nagaland State Transport (NST) covered 11,414 km of road length and on an average handled 5,128<br />

passengers daily. The railway station at Dimapur connects Nagaland to rest of the country via Assam.<br />

Nagaland also has an airport at Dimpaur. A second airport is being planned for Kohima district.<br />
