6.6.4 Employment Pattern<br />
Tuensang district has a total of 184,924 workers, with 45 per cent working population. About 85per cent<br />
of the workers are main workers, while the remaining are marginal workers. Of the total workers,<br />
majority at 80 per cent are cultivators, 3 per cent is agricultural labourers, 2per cent are workers in<br />
household industry and the 14 per cent other workers.<br />

6.6.5 Potential sectors in district<br />
Based on the factor advantages, following sectors have been identified in the district for skilling and<br />
upgrading skills:<br />
Horticulture:<br />
• Teunsang district is a major producer of bean.<br />
• Key fruits grown in the district include oranges, lemons, bananas, and pineapples.<br />
• Key spices and vegetables grown in the district include chillies, ginger, colocasia, tapioca, and<br />
turmeric.<br />
• There is also potential for growth of medicinal and aromatic plants.<br />

• The district has availability of waste lands and those can be exploited for growth of jatropha,<br />
which can further be converted into bio-diesel.<br />
