4 Processing <strong>Modflow</strong><br />

System Requirements<br />

Hardware<br />

Personal computer running Micros<strong>of</strong>t Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0 or above.<br />

16 MB <strong>of</strong> available memory (32MB or more highly recommended).<br />

A CD-ROM drive and a hard disk.<br />

VGA or higher-resolution monitor.<br />

Micros<strong>of</strong>t Mouse or compatible pointing device.<br />

S<strong>of</strong>tware<br />

A FORTRAN compiler is required if you intend to modify and compile the models<br />

MODFLOW-88, MODFLOW-96, MOC3D, MT3D or MT3DMS. For the reason <strong>of</strong> compability,<br />

the models must be compiled by a Lahey Fortran compiler. The source code are saved in the<br />

folder \Source\ <strong>of</strong> the CD-ROM.<br />

Setting Up PMWIN<br />

You install PMWIN on your computer using the self-installing program PM32007.EXE<br />

contained in the folder \programs\pm5\ <strong>of</strong> the CD-ROM. Please note: If you are using<br />

Windows NT 4.0, you must install the Service Pack 3 (or above) before installing PMWIN. Refer<br />

to the file readme.txt on the PM5 CD-ROM for more information.<br />

Documentation<br />

The folder \Document\ <strong>of</strong> the CD-ROM contains electronic documents in the Portable<br />

®<br />

Document Format (PDF). You must first install the Acrobat Reader before you can read or print<br />

®<br />

the PDF documents. You can find the installation file <strong>of</strong> the Acrobat Reader in the folder<br />

\Reader\. Execute the file \Reader\win95\ar302.exe from the CD directly and follow the<br />

screen to install the Reader.<br />

Starting PMWIN<br />

Once you have completed the installation procedure, you can start Processing <strong>Modflow</strong> by using<br />

the Start button on the task bar in Windows.<br />
