Vocational Rehabilitation:<br />
Vocational Rehabilitation approves the curriculum at <strong>Merrell</strong> <strong>University</strong> of Beauty Arts<br />
& Science for student financial assistance. Student applicant must receive enrollment<br />
approval by the Director of Vocational Rehabilitation prior to receiving financial<br />
assistance.<br />
Veteran Affairs:<br />
The Division of Veteran Affairs approves the curriculum at <strong>Merrell</strong> <strong>University</strong> of Beauty<br />
Arts & Science for Student Financial Assistance. Student applicants must receive<br />
enrollment approval by the Director of Veteran Affairs prior to receiving financial<br />
assistance.<br />
Job Training Partnership Act:<br />
The Job Training Partnership for student financial assistance approves the curriculum at<br />
<strong>Merrell</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Student applicant must receive enrollment approval by the Director of<br />
the Division of Job Training prior to receiving financial assistance.<br />
CWS:<br />
<strong>Merrell</strong> <strong>University</strong> no longer participates in the College Work Study program and does<br />
not offer any type of employment compensation to be considered part of a student’s<br />
financial aid package.<br />
Assisting student applicants with their educational funding is a major function of <strong>Merrell</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong>. The Director of Financial Aid will provide any information desired regarding<br />
student eligibility for any financial aid programs.<br />
TRANSFER OF CREDITS<br />
Cosmetology program at <strong>Merrell</strong> <strong>University</strong> of Beauty Arts & Science are relatively short and<br />
considered complete courses. The complete cosmetology course consists of 1,500 clock hours,<br />
the manicuring course consists of 400 clock hours, the Esthetics program consists of 1,200 clock<br />
hours, and the instructor-training program consists of 600 clock hours. The <strong>University</strong> does not<br />
accept transfer hours for the manicuring and instructor training courses.<br />
Transfer “IN” students must meet the following guidelines:<br />
1. Provide the <strong>University</strong> with a complete transcript of prior attendance of any cosmetology<br />
schools attended;<br />
2. Provide the <strong>University</strong> with a written statement from the Director of Admissions of the<br />
last cosmetology school attended including behavior, professional vision, and reason for<br />
requesting transfer; and<br />
3. Must not have been absent from cosmetology training more than nine months. A waiver<br />
from this requirement must be approved at the discretion of the Director of Admissions.<br />
Students are required to use textbooks, student kits, sculptured nail and manicuring kits, lab<br />
coats, artificial hand, and one additional mannequin for the State Board examination as<br />
prescribed by <strong>Merrell</strong>. In addition, the tuition for transfer students will be the same charge<br />
