In no case will the student be considered to be making satisfactory progress unless he/she has
achieved both the grade and attendance requirements for at lease one segment before the
midpoint.
ATTENDANCE
A student must attend at lease 67 _ % of the scheduled hours agreed upon in his/her enrollment
contract or the student will be placed on attendance probation. At the end of the next segment, if
the cumulative attendance rate is not at least 67-_%, financial aid will normally be terminated
until the student’s cumulative rate is at least 67 1/2%. However, as in the case of grades you
may appeal for one probation period if the attendance during the first probation period was at
least 70%. However, unless the student failed both the grade and attendance requirements
for at least one segment before the midpoint, it will not be considered that satisfactory progress is
made during the second probationary period. Even if attendance rate is above 67-_%, the Pell
grant and SEOG programs disbursements will be delayed until the hours initially paid have been
completed. Second disbursements of loans and grants will not be granted until the student has
attended 451 actual clock hours.
APPEAL PROCESS
Any student placed on probation has the right to appeal his/her probation charges. Guidelines for
the appeal process will be as follows:
1. The written appeal must be signed by the student and directed to the Director of
Financial Aid.
2. The appeal must be made with five scheduled school days following the date of
probation.
3. The written appeal must include:
a. Circumstances causing tardiness and absenteeism;
b. Circumstances and scholastic reasons for low grades; and
c. Reasons why and how circumstances listed which caused probation have
or will be corrected.
The Director of Financial Aid will review the written appeal document and respond to the
student within 10 scheduled school days. Response will be in writing and inform the student that
the appeal has been approved or denied. The Director of Student Financial Aid may, after a
careful and thorough research of the appeal circumstances along with research of the student’s
history, determine that the student is making satisfactory progress towards his/her certificate
despite the failure to conform within the time frame or minimum grade averages.
