Prior to entering classes, if a student cancels his/her enrollment agreement after three business days following the signing of the enrollment agreement, he/she will be entitled to a refund of all monies paid to the University less the $150.00 registration fee. For any student attending the University for the first time, and using any Title IV program and whose withdrawal date is on or before the 50% point in their enrollment period, the institution will apply the statutory pro-rata refund policy. Pro-rata refund means a refund by the school no less than that portion of the tuition, equal to the portion of the enrollment period for which the student has been charged that remains on the withdrawal date, rounded downward to the nearest ten percent of that period, less any unpaid amount of the scheduled cash payment for the enrollment period for which the student has been charged. An administration fee, not to exceed $150.00 or 5% of the total institutional charges, whichever is less, will be excluded from the refund calculation. Examples of pro-rata calculations are available upon request. For students not using any Title IV program, or not a first-time student at the school, or beyond the 50% point in time of the enrollment period, the following schedule of tuition adjustment applies: Percentage time to total time of course Tuition owed to the University 00.01% to 04.99% 20% 05.00% to 09.99% 30% 10:00% to 14.99% 40% 15:00% to 24.99% 45% 25.00% to 49.99% 70% 50.00% and over 100% Enrollment time is defined as the time elapsed between the actual starting date and the date of the student’s last day of physical attendance at the University. Any monies due the student will be refunded within 30 days of the formal termination by the university, which will occur no more than 30 days from the last day of physical attendance, or in the case of leave of absence, the documented date of return. A termination fee of $150.00 will be assessed. Allocation of refunds: 1. To eliminate outstanding balances on Federal Stafford Loans 2. To eliminate any outstanding balances on Federal Plus Loans 3. To eliminate any amount of Federal Pell Grants awarded to the student for the enrollment period for which he/she was charged 4. To repay required refunds of other Federal, State, private or institutional student financial assistance received by the student. If a course is canceled subsequent to a student’s enrollment, the school will at its option provide a refund of all monies paid or provide completion of the course. If the school is permanently closed after the student’s enrollment, the student will be entitled to a pro-rata refund. In the case of disabling illness, disabling accident, or death, the school will make a settlement that is reasonable and fair to both. 20
COURSE OUTLINE: COSMETOLOGY, HAIRDRESSING & MANICURING Basic Textbook: Salon Fundamentals, Pivot Point International, Inc. Chicago, Illinois Course Description: This is a course in the basic services, theories, and principles of cosmetology arts and sciences. The minimum length of the course is 1,500 clock hours covering approximately 50 weeks. The units of study and the completion requirements exceed those required by the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology. Course Objectives: Upon the completion of the 1,500-hour course, the student will have acquired the technical abilities and academic theories in compliance with requirements of the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology and will have: 1. The ability to perform the cosmetology services offered in a full service salon; 2. The ability to use professional products correctly and in a safe manner; 3. The ability to analyze and test the quality and condition of the hair, skin, and nails for the safety and correct selection of the product or service; 4. The fundamental knowledge to manage a cosmetology salon after a reasonable amount of experience as an observant employee; and 5. The privilege of entering an industry that has no limits to the opportunities available to those who have the ambition and desire to achieve. Instructional Methods: Audio-visuals, demonstrations, sessions, lectures, guest artists, and supervised clinic experiences are used throughout the course. Students demonstrate their abilities in class participation, clinic experience, and assigned projects.
